The club recently took part in the GB80LAN special event, commemorating the first operational sortie of the Avro Lancaster ( to lay mines in Heligoland Bight ), 80 years ago.
The event took place from 1st-28th March, with several clubs with associations to stations operating the Lancaster (RAF Waddington, RAF Cosford, RAF Halton and Lincoln Shortwave Club) sharing the use of the callsign over the duration of the event. You can read more about the event on the RAFARS website here.
Over 50 eQSL’s have been received by the club, as well as a number of direct QSL cards.
This event was commemorated in 3 countries, with stations that were able to contact all 3 special event stations receiving an award. This is the certificate awarded to Waddington ARC.
